For the last 41 years, Fayette County Farm Bureau has held an equipment auction yearly to support our local farming community.

The first auction, held in a local tobacco warehouse, was intended to help farmers sell unwanted machinery. Today, the mission has grown significantly, encompassing nearly ten acres of the Kentucky Horse Park. The mission has also taken action to fund the education of our future.

After a few years of conducting the auction as proceeds from the event grew, so did the opportunity to support the organization and the community.

Conversations were initially focused on a new building or growing the rainy-day fund. Thankfully, past leaders of Fayette County Farm Bureau had a vision for the future. They knew the continuation of the event and the organization would be in the hands of the next generation.

The decision was made to invest the proceeds into the education of our future farmers, doctors, scientists, tradesmen, or community leaders… a bold decision that has created a far better legacy.

A strong vision for the future is what has brought our organization to this point. The dedication from our volunteers 41 years ago to the larger event we currently manage shows just that.

The steadfast dedication to create a scholarship that greatly benefits the recipients is what helps to set this sale apart from others and create a strong sense of purpose in our organization.

Consignors / Buyers know that we are all volunteers and the only one benefiting from the sale is the education of Fayette County Graduates.

This past year’s auction was a testament to the vision of our past leadership and the dedication of our volunteers - new and old alike. The auction held record-breaking sales - and most importantly, record distributions of Scholarships to our youth.

The Fayette County Farm Bureau Education Foundation Board, chaired by a former Scholarship recipient, reviewed the rising cost of tuition and living expenses and voted to increase our annual distributions this year to $80,000. The top scholarship received $30,000.

I am proud to be a part of such a great organization that seeks to better our community by empowering our youth to learn from universities or trade schools.Summary

If you find time in mid-March of 2025, attend our auction, even better bring something to sell. When the hammer falls and the Auctioneer yells SOLD, the youth of Fayette County are the winners!!

Fayette County Farm Bureau
