Kentucky FFA President Caroline Groth

There could not be a more exciting time to be involved with Kentucky FFA.

Hello fellow Kentucky Farm Bureau members! It is my honor to serve as the State FFA President this year and to represent over 21,000 FFA members across our great state.

As a member of the Locust Trace FFA, I had the chance to engage with Kentucky Farm Bureau in a variety of ways including local and regional meetings, working the farm machinery auction, applying for scholarships and participation in the outstanding youth contest.

Through my involvement I learned that FFA and KFB share many of the same priorities including a focus on leadership, a commitment to grass roots decision making, and a shared passion for preparing the youth of Kentucky to be leaders in agriculture.

Through events such as Institute for Future Agriculture Leaders, Kentucky Farm Bureau provides opportunities for youth to gain leadership skills and grow as agriculture advocates. KFB also supports FFA at the local and state level in a variety of ways including sponsorship, providing judges, and advocacy with government officials.

There could not be a more exciting time to be involved with Kentucky FFA. We are very excited to introduce the new Spirit of the Creed Award! This award will highlight local FFA members who in the past may not have received recognition for their hard work and contributions.

The FFA Creed exhibits qualities of a great FFA member that go far beyond just winning contests. The Spirit of the Creed award will allow local FFA chapters to recognize the hardworking individuals who excel outside of the typical FFA contest. This award aims to highlight a member based on their contribution to their FFA chapter, dedication to their Supervised Agricultural, Experience, and work ethic.

This award bears resemblance to the Kentucky Farm Bureau Young Farm Family award which highlights an individual or couple involved in production agriculture with most of their income subject to normal production risks associated with farming. The young farm family is highlighted for their contribution to the agriculture industry and leadership skills rather than awards or contests they participated in.

As we welcome Fall, it's also time for The National FFA Convention being held November 1-4 at Lucas Oil Stadium. National Convention is a time for FFA members across the country to showcase their skills through contests, learn new skills at workshops and build friendships with members across the U.S. This year Kentucky has multiple teams and individual members that will be competing at National Convention. We also have a National Officer candidate, Ms. Leslie Monhollen from Whitley County. Leslie served as the 2022-2023 Kentucky FFA state Sentinel.

Many activities are happening at the local level including degree ceremonies, recreational activities, fundraisers, and holiday food drives. If you’re not connected to your local FFA chapter, they would welcome your support and involvement.

Kentucky FFA is fortunate to have Kentucky Farm Bureau as a partner. As we look towards the future of agriculture in Kentucky, we are thankful and proud to be aligned with Kentucky Farm Bureau in our efforts to promote excellence in agriculture.

Caroline Groth, President
Kentucky FFA
