CBOT futures closed steady to higher with wheat futures posting 3-4 percent gains on talk that Russia may restrict wheat exports above a certain amount. If this becomes reality, the U.S. should see more wheat export business. Corn and soybeans remain under pressure from a large crop and a lack of trade negotiations with China. The spec funds are short corn and soybeans, and long wheat.

Live cattle futures closed higher and Feeder Cattle closed lower. Cattle futures overcame early pressure from news of an atypical BSE case in a Florida cow. August LC closed on the day’s highs even as the cash fed market is not established. Choice beef edged up .28 to 212.68 and Select lost .73 to 203.55.

Lean Hog futures closed narrowly mixed on a lack of new fundamentals. LH overcame Tuesday’s bearish price action. FOB Plant Pork dropped .22 to 64.68/cwt.
