A
UK Ag research team has garnered a 4-year, $400,000
USDA grant to refine a new process to extract flavonoids from plant cells. Scientists have long correlated positive health effects from certain flavonoids in the diet, but this study seeks to isolate these compounds for development of drugs to fight cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, and possibly the onset of dementia.
