Market Closes - March 27, 2014
Posted on Mar 27, 2014Cattle futures posted higher closes for the fourth straight day on stronger cash cattle prices. But this puts LC futures up against key chart resistance so interesting things could happen Friday. Further strength has a caution flag with boxed beef falling sharply by late afternoon. Choice carcasses down 2.51 at 239.25; Select carcasses down 2.10 at 231.21/cwt. Feeder Cattle futures continue their march higher, hitting new contract highs. The April FC contract is up $20/cwt since September 2013.
Lean Hog futures closed up the limit of $3/cwt even as the pork cutout showed some weakness. However, the April LH contract is now at a discount to the CME Lean Hog Index.
