Market Update - October 23, 2012
Posted on Oct 23, 2012Outside markets are bearish today with the dollar stronger while equities, metals and energy futures are much lower. Disappointing corporate earnings and worries about Spain’s financial situation are factors. SP 500 is testing key chart support levels.
The Federal Reserve OMC is meeting this week but probably won’t make any waves ahead of the election.

Blue Grass Stockyards Cattle Auction Report for 10/22/2012 Receipts: 2,019 Last Monday: 1,275 Year Ago: 2,500 Compared to last week, steer calves sold mostly steady to 1.00 lower with moderate demand. Heifer calves sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher with very good demand. Yearling steers light test and not fully established. Yearling heifers sold firm with good demand. Slaughter cows sold steady with good demand. Slaughter bulls sold 1.00 higher with good demand.
Total supply included 09% slaughter cows, 01% slaughter bulls, 02% replacements and 88% feeders. Feeder supply 31% steers, 23% bulls, 46% heifers with 41% of feeders weighing over 600 lbs.
