Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) has announced the nomination period is now open for its 2024 Farm Woman of the Year award. The annual award honors the outstanding achievements of women in Kentucky agriculture. Recipients represent the highest levels of professional excellence, leadership and innovation in farming.

To be eligible for this prestigious honor, a woman must be actively involved in farming or an agriculture-related operation in Kentucky, and be a Farm Bureau member. They also must be nominated by a Farm Bureau member, with a limit of one nomination per member. 

Applicants will be judged by a panel of out-of-state agricultural professionals on the following criteria:

• Farm business and productivity
• Farm Bureau engagement and leadership
• Involvement in other agricultural-related activities
• Knowledge of agricultural issues
• Community involvement

“This award was created to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of women in agriculture,” said KFB President Eddie Melton. “Women have been instrumental in the success of farming in Kentucky for generations. We are pleased to be able to help show them the recognition they so richly deserve.”

The deadline for Farm Woman of the Year nominations is Friday, Aug. 23. The winner will be recognized during the KFB Annual Meeting at the end of the year.
