In somewhat of a surprise, CBOT futures closed higher, recovering a good share of yesterday’s losses. Cattle futures closed higher with live cattle outperforming the feeders. Lean hog futures closed lower with summer contracts leading the way.

Most CBOT futures closed sharply lower with new-crop corn and all three wheat exchanges leading the way downward. Cattle futures closed sharply higher with feeder cattle benefitting from the sharp drop in CBOT futures. Lean hog futures closed mixed with May-October lower and the deferred contracts higher.
