Corn and soy complex futures closed higher with new contract highs in soybeans and soybean oil. Live and feeder cattle futures closed moderately higher on strong boxed beef values. Lean hog futures closed higher with 2021 contracts leading the way.

Brandon Gilles, of Daviess County, won first place in the final round of Kentucky Farm Bureau’s (KFB) Discussion Meet, a debate-styled competition for young farmers that relies on an individual’s skill in reasoning and logical discussion of issues. The topic was: “Connectivity underpins the modern economy. What mix of investment and policy initiatives can provide reliable broadband access to farmers, ranchers, and rural America?”

CBOT futures closed mostly higher and generally upper range. Cattle futures closed mostly higher by small amounts as traders wait for cash markets to get going. Lean hog futures closed lower beyond the nearby December contract.

CBOT futures closed lower across the board on a lack of additional bullish news. Live cattle futures closed lower while feeder futures were mostly higher.  Lean hog futures closed higher led by the nearby December LH contract.

CBOT futures closed mixed and well off the day’s highs which came in the overnight session on follow-through buying to Tuesday’s sharp gains. Cattle futures closed narrowly mixed but in the upper range. Lean hog futures closed lower ahead of tomorrow morning’s weekly pork export sales report.
