CBOT futures closed mixed with corn and soybean meal rising. Cattle futures closed lower and near the day’s lows after trading higher early in the trading session.  Lean hog futures closed narrowly mixed except for nearby October LH which gained $1.35.

CBOT futures closed sharply higher in response to a bullish Quarterly Grain Stocks Report released at Noon EDT. Cattle futures closed lower and toward the low end of the range. Lean hog futures closed moderately higher but near the day’s highs.

Except for soybean meal, CBOT futures closed lower with wheat and soybean oil leading the way down. Cattle futures closed higher but remain below recent highs. Lean hog futures closed stronger in the October LH contract but slightly weaker in April 2021-forward contracts.

North American International Livestock Exposition Approved to Hold 2020 Show

The North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) was approved through the Kentucky Healthy at Work initiative to host a modified show this year. NAILE is the largest all-breed, purebred livestock exposition in the world and runs Nov. 3-19, 2020 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
