CBOT futures closed sharply higher and high-range on support from strong weekly export sales and a sizable daily soybean export sale to China.  Cattle futures closed mostly lower on weak boxed beef values and October LC’s premium to cash.  Lean hog futures closed higher with large gains in the front months. 

CBOT futures closed higher to sharply higher and at/near the day’s highs. Live cattle closed narrowly mixed and feeder futures finished to the downside. Lean hog futures closed lower as traders lose confidence that Germany’s ASF problem will benefit the U.S. greatly.

CBOT futures closed lower and near the lows of the day. Live cattle closed narrowly mixed while feeder futures gained around a dollar/cwt. Except for the $1.07 gain in the October contract, Lean Hogs closed lower.

CBOT futures closed mostly higher with the significant exception of soybean meal.  Cattle futures closed strongly higher, adding to recent gains.  Lean hog futures closed lower, but sharply lower in the October and December contracts.

I’m blessed to have grown up on our family farm in Clark County. It taught me the benefits of hard work as I learned through hands-on activities that took place every day. I discovered how to grow crops, care for animals, and to be a good steward of the land. It was a classroom like no other and my parents set an example that I carry with me daily.
