CBOT futures closed mostly lower to near steady after Monday’s strong rally.  Live cattle closed mixed while feeder futures posted all gains. Lean hog futures closed lower with the nearby October and December LH hit the hardest.

CBOT futures closed sharply higher and near the day’s highs. Cattle futures closed lower with feeder futures dropping the most as higher CBOT added pressure.  Lean hog futures managed small gains at the close.

Corn and soybean futures closed higher despite USDA reporting larger than expected U.S. average yields and crop sizes for both corn and soybeans. CBOT futures ended mostly steady to slightly higher, with settlements well off the day’s highs. Cattle futures closed strongly higher with support from a steady/firm cash market and higher boxed beef values. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower except for the nearby August LH contract.  

CBOT futures closed widely mixed with corn and soybeans posting gains on short-covering ahead of Wednesday’s USDA crop reports.  Cattle futures closed higher and near the day’s highs. Lean hog futures closed unchanged to sharply higher with 2020 contract leading the way higher.
