CBOT futures closed mostly lower to near steady after Monday’s strong rally.  Live cattle closed mixed while feeder futures posted all gains. Lean hog futures closed lower with the nearby October and December LH hit the hardest.

CBOT futures closed sharply higher and near the day’s highs. Cattle futures closed lower with feeder futures dropping the most as higher CBOT added pressure.  Lean hog futures managed small gains at the close.

Corn and soybean futures closed higher despite USDA reporting larger than expected U.S. average yields and crop sizes for both corn and soybeans. Cattle futures closed strongly higher adding to recent gains on support from higher fed prices and beef values.  Cattle futures closed strongly higher adding to recent gains on support from higher fed prices and beef values.

CBOT futures ended mostly steady to slightly higher, with settlements well off the day’s highs. Cattle futures closed strongly higher with support from a steady/firm cash market and higher boxed beef values. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower except for the nearby August LH contract.

Whenever I have been asked to describe what Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) is about or how it operates, I always begin with one word: “grassroots.”

If you have been around this organization as long as I have, that word comes up often and we never want to lose sight of how important it really is.
