So much of how we act as an adult comes from what we learned as a child. I realize that is not an earth-shattering statement, but stay with me for a minute. The things we experienced growing up often stay with us. For instance, my dad was a big outdoorsman, and I have grown up loving the outdoors just as much. My mom was a nurturer, always making sure us kids were okay, showing how much she loved us.

The dairy industry has a long and storied history in the Commonwealth; one that is steeped in tradition and can be traced back for generations. In fact, if you ask any dairy producer why they continue in such a demanding sector, they will likely list tradition as one of their deciding factors.

Since 1935, there has been a Miss Kentucky pageant held every year  (with the exception of the World War II years). That changed, however, for the 2020 pageant due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CBOT futures closed steady to mostly higher with corn and winter wheat soaring. Cattle futures managed to close slightly higher as these markets continue their choppy sideways pattern.  Lean hog futures closed slightly higher after futures had dropped sharply on Friday in reaction to the bearish Hogs and Pigs Report.

CBOT futures closed mixed with corn taking it on the chin. Cattle futures closed mostly higher in relatively narrow price ranges. Lean hog futures closed from steady to $1.07 higher ahead of this afternoon’s Quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report. 

CBOT futures closed lower and near the day’s lows. Cattle futures closed slightly lower today following Tuesday’s strong gains.  Lean hog futures closed lower as traders position for tomorrow’s hog report.
