CBOT futures closed widely mixed with corn lower and wheat higher. Weekend rains and a lack of concern for damaging weather weighed on corn and soybeans less so. Cattle futures closed lower on lack of cash trading, long liquidation, and Friday’s Cattle on Feed Report that was considered negative. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower despite a huge 6.98/cwt gain in the pork cutout at midday.

Corn and soybeans closed about steady while KC/Chicago wheat dropped 4-5 cents. Cattle futures closed slightly lower on relatively narrow price ranges. Lean Hog futures closed slightly higher but in the upper price range.

CBOT futures closed mostly steady to sharply lower (wheat, oats, rice). Cattle futures closed higher in narrow ranges with feeders posting the biggest gains.  Lean hog futures closed sharply lower and near the day’s lows.

CBOT futures closed narrowly mixed with futures settling closer to the day’s highs than the lows. Cattle futures closed mostly higher after opening lower in sympathy with the sharp drop in U.S. equity markets on concerns that COVID cases are rising. Lean Hog futures closed slightly higher after opening lower like most ag futures did.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed following today’s USDA WASDE Report which did not contain any major surprises. Cattle futures closed mostly lower, albeit by relatively small amounts, and at the high end of the day’s range. Lean hog futures closed lower except for the expiring June LH contract.
