The University of Kentucky will host the Integrated Pest Management workshop next week at the Grain and Forage Center of Excellence in Princeton.  U.K. Extension Entomologist Dr. Ric Bessin says this year’s program will include topics about cost effective pest management, resistant weeds, soils, and more.

Miss Kentucky Alex Franke says her year representing agriculture in the state has been fun and rewarding.  Franke says her highlights include having the chance to work with young people across the state and represent Kentucky at events such as the National Farm Machinery Show.

The Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo is expected to attract exhibitors and livestock from a number of surrounding states to the Kentucky Exposition Center this weekend.  Farm Bureau Commodity Division Director Joe Cain says the event will feature sales, youth shows, and a chance for the public to see beef cattle in the barns.

The film “Silo”, that was filmed on a Kentucky farm, is helping to spread the message of farm safety across the state and nation.  Kentucky Department of Agriculture Farm and Home Safety Coordinator Dale Dobson says the film will be shown at the Safety Symposium March 13 in Elizabethtown.  And Dobson talks about the importance of farmers being when working in grain bins.

The University of Kentucky will host their second Kentucky Agriculture Training School Thursday, March 5, at the Grain and Forage Center of Excellence in Princeton.  KATS Coordinator Lori Rogers says this school will focus on green-up of the 2020 wheat crop, soil considerations, straw sale, and other topics.
