The economic outlook for corn, tobacco and soybeans in 2019 was heavily dependent on yield, weather and trade.  University of Kentucky Agriculture Economist Dr. Todd Davis shared the numbers for the three major grain crops during the Kentucky Farm Bureau meeting in December.

Kentucky, Thank You for Helping Us Celebrate 100 Years

As we round out an exciting year of celebrating Kentucky Farm Bureau’s centennial, I find myself reflecting on the past— the past year of celebrations and the past century of Kentucky Farm Bureau. After all of the 100-year celebrations, ceremonies, presentations, and excitement, it is clear to me that there are a lot of people and organizations throughout the state that we need to thank.

CBOT futures closed mixed with soybeans/meal up the most and wheat dropping a few cents.  Live cattle futures closed steady while feeders were down slightly. Lean Hog futures closed slightly higher except for February’s 42-cent loss.

The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture will host their annual Winter Wheat Meeting next week in the Siemer Milling Conference Center at the new Grain and Forage Center of Excellence in Princeton.  Center Director Dr. Chad Lee says a number of timely topics will be on the agenda for the meeting.
