United States Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Bill Northey says sign-up is underway for the latest round of the Conservation Reserve Program.  Secretary Northey details the program and talks about major changes farmers will notice from the previous program.

CBOT futures closed sharply higher as traders become  confident the US/China trade deal is for real this time. Cattle futures finished with losses after the market saw sharp gains on Friday. Lean Hog futures closed higher in follow-through buying to Friday’s rally on the US/China trade deal. 

The Kentucky Farm Bureau 100th Annual Meeting came to a close with its Board of Directors approving state and national priorities for 2020.

A record crowd of more than 2,000 Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) members and guests made their way to Louisville’s Galt House for the organization’s 100^th Annual Meeting. This year’s event culminated a year of Centennial Celebrations that took place at various county Farm Bureau’s throughout the state during 2019.  The theme of this year’s meeting was “Stronger Together.”

As we come to the end of the year, there’s a lot to be thankful for. This organization has celebrated its centennial throughout 2019 and we look forward to the opportunities a New Year and decade hold for us on the farm and in our rural communities.

I suppose it is the time of year many of us look back and reflect on the year that is about to lapse and the new one, coming up. The trouble I have at the end of each year, is trying to deal with how fast the last 365 days have gone by.
