Kentucky Farm Bureau Announces Distinguished Service  to Agriculture and Farm Bureau Recipients

Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) announced two annual award winners today: Sam Moore of Butler County, and former KFB president, has been named the Distinguished Service to Agriculture recipient and James Stuecker of Hardin County is the 2019 Distinguished Service to Farm Bureau Award winner.

CBOT futures closed mixed again today but soybean futures continue to drift lower in a well-established downtrend.  Except for the December LC contract, cattle futures closed lower ahead of Friday’s cattle on feed report. Lean hog futures closed higher, ending a general sell-off over 6 trading days.

Farm Bureau Survey: Thanksgiving Dinner Cost Rises Only a Penny

The American Farm Bureau Federation’s 34th annual survey of classic items found on the Thanksgiving Day dinner table indicates the average cost of this year’s feast for 10 is $48.91, or less than $5.00 per person. This is a 1-cent increase from last year’s average of $48.90.

CBOT futures closed mixed with corn and soybeans continuing to be pressured by fund selling and a lack of export demand. Live cattle closed slightly higher through June 2020 and feeder cattle ended unchanged to slightly lower.  Lean hog futures closed sharply lower due to Tuesday’s sharp drop in the pork cutout, huge production, lack of technical chart support and reports that the US/China Phase 1 deal won’t happen in 2019.
