Kentucky Farm Bureau hosted the Kentucky Governor’s Measure The Candidates Forum Wednesday, July 17, at the home office in Louisville.  Farm Bureau President Mark Haney talks about the timeliness of the forums, when they are held, the topics discussed and the importance of Farm Bureau members becoming involved.

CBOT futures closed significantly lower on a lack of export demand and non-threatening weather (moderate temperatures, although less rainy).  Cattle futures closed higher and near the day’s highs. Cattle were supported by ideas last week’s weakness has run its course. This was aided by Friday’s generally “price neutral” Cattle on Feed Report and the mid-year Cattle inventory report.

CBOT futures closed near steady to strongly lower. Corn and wheat dropped 2-3% and finished near the day’s lows.  Cattle futures closed lower with feeders down the most. The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is hosting their annual Corn, Soybean and Tobacco Field Day Tuesday, July 23, at the Research and Education Center in Princeton.  UK Plant Pathologist Dr. Kiersten Wise previews the field day, talks about some of the topics being covered and who will be presenting during each of the tour stops.
