Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles says it is important to thank a farmer during National Agriculture Week, but also throughout the year.  Quarles talked about the impact of agriculture, the number of family farms in the state, specialty markets and how Kentucky ranks on the national level during a State of Agriculture address on National Agriculture Day.

Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign gathered anti-hunger advocates from across the country, including Kentucky, to look for ways to reduce hunger among children in rural communities during a national conference March 21-22 in Louisville.

Without any real fundamental support, CBOT futures closed mostly higher and near the day’s highs.  Live Cattle posted moderate gains with Feeder Cattle rallying stronger. These markets continue to be supported by bad feedlot conditions, weather-related death losses, strong beef demand from the financially-healthy consumer and soaring Lean Hog futures.

As a cattle producer, I am thankful to the General Assembly for passing House Bill 311 which will ensure lab-grown protein products are properly labeled for consumers. I would also like to thank Representative Michael Meredith for sponsoring this important bill.
