Kentucky Farm Bureau County Presidents and Vice Presidents Attend Conference in Louisville

Every year, hundreds of leaders from county Farm Bureaus across the state gather in Louisville for the annual Presidents and Vice Presidents Conference.  The conference provides these volunteer leaders with an opportunity to hear from Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) leadership on many of the issues that affect their local organizations each day.  The statewide group comes together to learn and to exchange ideas about making their Farm Bureaus even more successful.

CBOT futures closed steady to mostly lower with 2-percent soybean oil losses dragging soybean futures down one percent. Corn futures closed lower for the fourth straight day. Cattle futures closed slightly higher and near the day’s highs. Lean Hog futures beyond the Feb/April contracts closed strongly higher.

CBOT futures closed noticeably lower, pressured by White House officials’ comments that were not as positive on a US/China trade deal as traders expected.  Cattle futures closed mixed in lackluster trade. Lean Hog futures closed lower, pressured by the negative US/China trade comments.

A grant from the Gimbel Foundation will help compensate Kentucky farmers who sell produce to help feed the hungry in partnership with the Kentucky Association of Food Banks.  Program Director Sarah Vaughn talks about the grant program, what farmers can sell and how they can apply to participate this year.
