Not only are deer collisions a problem in rural areas of Kentucky, they can also pose a threat in urban areas.  Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Communications Director Dan Smaldone says as the deer population continues to increase, so do the chances for a collision with deer on roads in the Bluegrass.

Deer collisions on Kentucky highways are a problem throughout the year, but the greatest risk comes in the fall and early winter months.  Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Communications Director Dan Smaldone says drivers need to be on the lookout for deer crossing the roadways this time of year.

Central Kentucky farmers are facing some challenges due to a wet harvest season.  Breckinridge County Agriculture Extension Agent Carol Hinton says the corn and tobacco harvest has been very good, but the recent wet weather is causing some problems for corn farmers who have not been able to harvest their crops.
