While in Louisville at the Kentucky State Fair, Acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler said the President is in support of Ethanol.  Wheeler discussed what is being proposed concerning an Ethanol standard and how it will be implemented.  He also discussed Dicamba and said a decision will be made by November that will give farmers guidelines to start planting winter crops.

Acting Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler says he wants to give farmers a chance to make the Waters of the United States Rule something that will work on their farm.  Host Alan Watts discusses the WOTUS role, how it could affect farmers and what changes could be coming in the rule with the EPA Administrator, who was in Kentucky August 24.

CBOT futures closed steady to higher with wheat futures posting 3-4 percent gains on talk that Russia may restrict wheat exports above a certain amount.  Live cattle futures closed higher and Feeder Cattle closed lower.  Lean Hog futures closed narrowly mixed on a lack of new fundamentals.

Given a lack of unfavorable weather to impact the final production, the CBOT closed sharply lower in corn and soybean futures.  The funds have the fundamentals and technicals going their way as we wind down August. Cattle futures opened higher, but quickly sold off to the day’s lows in the first hour of trading. A recovery the rest of the day pulled prices back to mid-range and modest losses. Lean Hog futures closed lower with the nearby October LH dropping nearly the daily $3.00 limit.

EPA Acting Administrator Wheeler Promotes ACE Proposal In Kentucky

Today, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler visited the Bluegrass State to tout EPA’s Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) proposal, announced earlier this week, that would replace the Clean Power Plan and establish emission guidelines for states to develop plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Kentucky Farm Bureau's 55th Ham Breakfast Auction Raises $2.8 Million

Thursday morning Kentucky elected officials, business executives, and Kentucky Farm Bureau members from around the state attended the 55th annual Ham Breakfast hosted by KFB at the Kentucky State Fair. This year’s Grand Champion ham was auctioned for a record price of $2.8 million.
