With the summer tobacco cutting season underway and corn shelling just around the corner, Kentucky roadways will be filled with tractors, combines, trucks and other farm equipment.  Host Alan Watts talks with farmer Michael Oliver of Seven Springs Farms about moving farm equipment, the best way to safely meet farm equipment on the road and ways to avoid problems.

The smell of Kentucky Country Ham is hard to miss on the opening day of the Kentucky State Fair, especially in 4-H Cloverville.  Kentucky Ham producer Ronnie Drennan talks about the history of the Kentucky 4-H Country Ham project, what the competition involves and how the 4-Hers can tell if they have a champion ham.

The Kentucky State Fair kicks off Wednesday at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville.  Kentucky Venues President and CEO David Beck, who formerly led Kentucky Farm Bureau, talks about this year’s fair, Ag Land, the Commodity Breakfast and other highlights.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed, from large gains in wheat to modest losses in soybeans. Corn was little changed as it was caught between the wheat and soybean markets.  Live and feeder cattle futures opened this morning steady but quickly sold off to near the day’s lows.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall today joined a special national agriculture roundtable highlighting a recent wave of nuisance lawsuits targeting North Carolina hog farms.

CBOT futures closed mixed with small price changes posted at the close. Ironically, corn and wheat closed higher, but it was near the low end of the trading range.  Cattle futures closed slightly lower with today’s trading mostly staying within Wednesday’s range. Lean Hog futures closed moderately lower, hitting new contract lows.
