Maintaining adequate roads and bridges will continue to be the focus of rural and urban areas of Kentucky, especially with talk of changes in the gasoline tax by the Kentucky General Assembly.  Lincoln County Farmer David Campbell, who chairs the Kentucky Farm Bureau Energy and Transportation Committee, says maintaining the current gas tax formula is critical for rural roads and bridges.

Ground will be broken Thursday for the new Grain and Forage Center of Excellence at the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center in Princeton.  Director Dr. Chad Lee says Thursday will be an exciting day that is being made possible by a number of partners, with the center to server farmers in Kentucky and the southeast region of the United States.

Although the deadline to respond to the Census of Agriculture was in early February, only 40 percent of farmers and landowners have complied.  National Ag Statistics Service Eastern Mountain Region Director David Knopf says farmer still need to respond online or by mail, or they will  receive a phone call from the National Ag Statistics Service.

CBOT futures rallied strongly today, led by the wheat market. Prices were supported by dry weather – in the Plains for wheat and in Argentina for soybeans and corn.  Cattle futures traded both sides but closed near unchanged. Nearby LC was supported by strong beef cutout values.
