Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles encouraged Kentucky military veterans who are farmers to respond to the 2017 Census of Agriculture, a snapshot of American agriculture taken every five years.

Katie Pratt, of the UK College of Agriculture, talks about whether or not producers should store their corn and soybeans this fall according to grain market suggestions.

The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board  (KADB)  approved $5,000,000 for the Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation’s (KAFC)  revolving, low interest loan programs.

The application period for Kentucky Farm Bureau’s Certified Roadside Farm Market Program is now underway for the 2018 growing season.  Feldhaus visits with farm group staffer, Fran McCall, about how the program has grown and about some of its features that members find most helpful.

There’s a MarketReady producer training program set for Nov. 10th, in Shelby County.  Extension Associate, Alex Butler, is helping coordinate the event, which is geared to help produce growers, avoid pitfalls, and speed connections with the companies that could be buying their products on a regular basis.

The KY Agriculture Department and Kentucky Vegetable Growers Association are hosting a Kentucky Proud grower/buyer meeting on November 8th, at the Fayette County extension office. Vegetable group president, Joel Wilson of Pulaski County, says making these connections in the Fall should help buyers fine more producers, and give the growers more time to plan their crops for next season.

A feature story on today’s opening of the North American International Livestock Exposition at the KY Exposition Center in Louisville (Oct 31 – Nov 16).  Catherine Riley, assistant manager of the expo, says this is the largest purebred show of its kind in the world and discusses its international draw and she says it wouldn’t all be possible without hundreds of volunteers that make it happen.
