Kentucky Farm Service Agency Acting State Executive Director Robert W. Finch today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture will begin mailing ballots to eligible farmers and ranchers for the 2017 FSA County Committee elections.

The KY Agriculture Department and Kentucky Vegetable Growers Association are hosting a Kentucky Proud grower/buyer meeting on November 8th, at the Fayette County extension office. Vegetable group president, Joel Wilson of Pulaski County, says making these connections in the Fall should help buyers fine more producers, and give the growers more time to plan their crops for next season.

A feature story on today’s opening of the North American International Livestock Exposition at the KY Exposition Center in Louisville (Oct 31 – Nov 16).  Catherine Riley, assistant manager of the expo, says this is the largest purebred show of its kind in the world and discusses its international draw and she says it wouldn’t all be possible without hundreds of volunteers that make it happen.
