'Ag Tag' Donations Soared to Nearly $630,000 in 2017, Shattering Previous Records

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles announced today that voluntary “ag tag” donations in the 2017 fiscal year that ended June 30 amounted to $629,865.43, setting a record for the largest amount donated since the program began.

An update on the spread of the spotted wing drosophila in Kentucky which was spotted about five years ago, and is now beginning to have impacts on production of small fruits here like blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and grapes.  UK Entomologist, Ric Bessin, says this is now a pest that producers will have to deal with on a regular basis.

Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation Donates $1 Million to UK's Grain and Forage Center of Excellence

In continuing its long-standing support of the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s Research and Education Center at Princeton, the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation’s (KFBF) Board of Directors voted, during its last meeting, to donate a total of $1 million to initiatives at the facility’s new Grain and Forage Center of Excellence.

UK Corn, Soybean and Tobacco Field Day,  7:30 a.m. CDT at UKRECC in Princeton
CBOT futures closed moderately higher and near the day’s highs.  Futures were near the day’s lows at the morning break in trading, but started a day-long rally when it reopened at 830 am.   Cattle futures closed mostly higher after trading both sides of unchanged.
