An update on Murray State University’s Hutson School of Agriculture with its dean, Dr. Tony Brannon.  He says they have a large group of incoming freshman, numerous research projects underway, and just recently cut the ribbon on their Breathitt Veterinary Diagnostic Lab in Hopkinsville.

The third of three Woodland Owner Short Courses is on tap for Sep 23 in Kenton County.  UK forestry, Billy Thomas, says one unique feature to this presentation is that they’re breaking down into two groups; those with 10 acres or less of woodlands and those with larger acreages.  They plan to customize their presentations and deal with specific issues of interest to land owners of various sizes.

Due to the popularity of this spring’s “indoor aquaculture program” hosted by Ky State University’s Aquaculture Center, a second similar program has been scheduled for Sep 16 in Frankfort.  KSU aquaculture extension specialist, Forrest Wynne, talks about the program which explores progress in indoor production of shrimp, tilapia, and aquaponics.

The UK College of Ag, Food and Environment is experiencing a “bumper crop” of ag major for the 2017/18 school year.  Feldhaus visits with the dean of the ag school, Dr. Nancy Cox, who says they’re experiencing growth in majors ranging from their equine program to their new ag and medical biotechnology field of study.
