Some 60 forest fires in over 20 counties in southeastern and northeastern Kentucky have led to declaration of a statewide emergency.   Floyd Willis, fire chief for the Ky Division of Forestry, reminds all of us that outdoor burning restrictions are still in effect through December 15.  He explains the guidelines and their purpose.

Houchens-owned grocery stores will now be featuring dozens of Kentucky Proud products in their stores, initially, in Glasgow, Owensboro, Louisville, and Bowling Green. Houchens’ spokesperson, Alan Larsen, says they plan to expand the initiative to their 42 other Kentucky stores in the near future.

Most CBOT futures closed sharply lower and near the day’s lows under pressure from bearish USDA crop reports which raised corn and soybean supplies more than expected.  Cattle futures closed mostly higher in the upper part of the day’s trading range. The recovery in US stock markets helped lift cattle futures.

CBOT futures closed strongly higher ahead of tomorrow’s USDA crop reports.  Fund buying lifted the markets as traders covered some short positions in corn and wheat.   Live cattle futures closed higher, erasing Monday’s losses.

CBOT futures closed mixed with price direction following the lead of this morning’s USDA weekly export inspections report. Corn and soybean export inspections came in above expectations, while the wheat export number was disappointing.  Cattle futures closed strongly lower but off the day’s lows.
