As humans, it’s very easy to draw conclusions about something by sight alone. But we don’t all see things—or in my case, places—in the same way. What I might think is beautiful, another may see just the opposite, and vice versa.

Kentucky Farm Bureau leaders got a firsthand look at part of the Mississippi Delta region during a recent trip to that state. The group was there to visit farms and convene at the Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance (SFBLI) building. There, they heard from SFBLI leadership and held a quarterly board meeting.

Webster County may seem to have little in common with cities in South Korea, but chances are some of the grain crops produced on farms in this West Kentucky area have made their way to overseas ports such as the Port of Gunsan, one of the busiest grain ports on the Korean peninsula.

Anyone who knows Carsyn Cecil, of Daviess County, likely knows she is not your typical 13-year-old. Being involved in 4-H, and on her school’s volleyball team, in addition, to having a love for rodeo and barrel racing on her horse Sunny, there is no doubt the Owensboro native is busy beyond her years.
