CBOT futures closed sharply lower with corn taking the biggest hit – the September Corn contract made new lows for the current downtrend, hitting a level last seen in January. Cattle futures closed mixed with Live Cattle slightly lower and Feeder Cattle slightly higher. Lean hog futures closed slightly lower except for the nearby August LH contract.

CBOT futures closed higher to sharply higher, supported by unfavorable weather forecasts during the critical pollination period, a weaker U.S. dollar and higher energy futures. Cattle futures closed higher with feeders limited by the higher CBOT futures. Lean hog futures closed strongly higher led by the August LH gaining $2.30/cwt.

CBOT futures closed mixed but well off the day’s highs. Corn and soybeans found support from weather outlooks which are drier and warmer than “normal” out at least two weeks. Live cattle closed slightly higher but feeder futures posted large gains for a third straight day. Lean hog futures closed higher but stopped short of trading above last week’s highs.

CBOT futures closed sharply lower and near the day’s lows despite a relatively neutral USDA WASDE Report released at Noon EDT. Live cattle futures closed slightly higher but feeder cattle futures soared by over two percent thanks to the collapse in corn futures. Lean hog futures closed slightly higher, supported by stronger cash hog prices and pork cutouts.
