Corn and soybean futures closed slightly higher after trading both sides of unchanged, while wheat moved higher on continued short-covering. Cattle futures closed higher with the nearby LC and FC contracts leading the way. Lean hog futures closed slightly lower, making for three straight days moving downward.

CBOT futures closed mostly lower to near steady with corn and soy complex futures ending in the upper end of the day’s trading range. Cattle futures closed slightly higher and near the day’s highs. Cattle sold off after the opening and spent most of the day lower. Lean hog futures closed higher on strengthening cash hog prices and higher pork values.

CBOT futures closed mixed with corn and wheat pressured by profit-taking. Cattle futures finished mixed with live cattle mostly lower and feeder futures mostly higher (weak front end). Lean hog futures closed higher with the February LH leading the way.

CBOT futures closed sharply higher today as traders focused on the deteriorating crop in parts of Brazil and Argentina. Cattle futures closed sharply lower in response to the big rally in corn and the soy complex. Lean hog futures were slightly higher beyond the nearby February LH contract which lost 97.5 cents/cwt.
