Soybeans closed narrowly mixed, corn ended higher and wheat futures closed up their daily limit. Cattle futures closed moderately lower on weak cash fundamentals and technical selling. Lean hog futures closed narrowly mixed except for the nearby April LH dropping $1.10/cwt despite a very strong morning pork market. 

Logan County Farm Bureau in collaboration with the Logan County FFA chapter celebrated “Food Check-Out Day” at local grocery stores. 

Corn and soybean futures closed lower and wheat ended mixed, at an extreme. Live cattle futures closed slightly lower after opening higher, but feeder cattle futures rallied as corn prices slid. Lean hog futures were near steady to weaker with little market direction.

CBOT futures soared higher again today as the Russian-Ukraine war intensifies and many countries and companies distance themselves from doing business with Russia. Live cattle closed mixed and feeder cattle ended moderately lower as CBOT futures soared again today. Lean hog futures closed strongly higher, ending a 4-day decline. 

Grain and oilseed futures closed sharply higher as the Russia-Ukraine war intensifies along with Putin’s mention of nuclear weapons. Except for the expiring February LC contract’s gain, cattle futures closed lower with feeder cattle getting hit hard by the sharp gains at the CBOT. Lean hog futures closed lower for the fourth straight day, although losses were minimal.
