CBOT futures (except for Oats) closed lower to sharply lower under pressure from a broad commodity sell-off due to Covid lockdowns in China and hopes for Russia-Ukraine negotiations. Cattle futures closed slightly lower in narrow-range trading. Lean hog futures closed higher in the April-July contracts and lower in the deferred ones.

CBOT futures closed lower and near the lows of the day. Much of the pressure came from this morning’s weekly export sales report which had disappointing results for corn, soybeans and wheat. Cattle futures traded in narrow ranges and closed slightly higher. Lean hog futures closed mostly lower on a correction following yesterday’s sharp gains.

CBOT futures closed higher across the board as commodity bulls rushed into the markets on continued concerns for supplies out of Russia and Ukraine. Cattle futures closed lower on last week’s disappointing cash fed market and higher corn futures. Lean hog futures closed higher to sharply higher despite today’s weaker cash hog price and pork cutouts.
