Infrastructure Package to Help Rural Communities Compete

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall commented today on the Senate passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.  “AFBF appreciates the Senate for working together in a bipartisan manner to pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The pressing infrastructure issues facing our nation are too important to ignore, particularly in rural communities where modernization is desperately needed.

CBOT futures closed near steady to mostly higher with Chicago/KC wheat leading the way up. Cattle futures closed a little higher but only mid-range. Lean hog futures closed moderately lower except for the soon-to-expire August LH which gained 77 cents.

CBOT futures closed mixed and mid to low range. Corn and soybeans were pressured by weekend rainfall, a stronger US Dollar, sharply lower crude oil futures and disappointing weekly export inspections. Cattle futures closed lower but by minimal amounts. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower with the October LH down the daily $3/cwt limit.

CBOT futures closed mixed with September Corn leading the way higher and soybean oil the downside leader. Cattle futures closed lower on a disappointing weekly beef export sales report and a quiet cash cattle market. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower beyond the August LH contract.

CBOT futures closed mixed with soybeans and meal the upside winners today on corrective buying. Cattle futures closed higher led by the live cattle market based on stronger cash fed prices and boxed beef values. Except for the August LH, lean hog futures closed lower pressured by continuing weakness in the pork cutout.
