CBOT futures closed mixed with nearly all grain and oilseed contracts lower – soybean oil, MGE wheat and rice closed higher. Cattle futures closed strongly higher with feeders getting a boost from weakness in corn futures. Lean hog futures closed mostly higher but $2.00-$3.00 below the day’s highs.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed with big trading ranges across the board. Cattle futures closed mixed with live cattle down slightly and feeder cattle a little higher, despite the stronger corn close. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower with the August LH down the daily $3.00 limit (means Tuesday’s limit is $4.50 for all LH contracts).

CBOT futures closed sharply lower to as much as limit-down in some contracts as the spec funds dumped portions of their long positions. Live cattle futures closed sharply lower while feeder futures ended more narrowly mixed. Lean hog futures closed sharply lower to expanded-limit down (July, Aug LH) following yesterday’s $3.00 limit losses.

CBOT futures closed mixed following today’s midday USDA reports which created extreme volatility and trading ranges right after the report’s release. Cattle futures closed slightly higher with feeders ending near the highs. Lean hog futures closed mostly higher with slight gains as prices are at contract highs. LH was supported by stronger cash hog prices and steady pork cutouts.

CBOT futures closed widely mixed with July corn up strongly while the soy complex lost around one percent in value. Cattle futures finished the day mixed with nearby strength in LC but general weakness in feeder cattle due to July Corn’s rally. Lean hog futures closed higher with the spot June LH up 1.25 to a new contract high.
